The Spanish FA have called off every one of Wednesday's 24 Copa del Rey fixtures after a train crash near Madrid left more than 30 people dead.

According to BBC Sport, the RFEF said in a statement that the move was taken to show solidarity with those who lost their lives. The trains, which were carrying over 500 passengers, collided and came off the tracks in Toledo.

Levante, Alaves, Valencia, Celta Vigo and Real Betis were the top-flight sides scheduled for first-round action on the cancelled day. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were not involved, as they join the tournament at a later stage.

FC Barcelona offered heartfelt condolences to the victims of the accident on the line between Los Yebenes and Urda. Real Madrid voiced profound sadness over the disaster in the province and pledged full backing to the emergency crews and everyone involved in the rescue operation.

Thursday's ties are going ahead as planned, while the federation have yet to announce new dates for the postponed matches.
