Deschamps turns down Manchester United interest

Didier Deschamps is not interested in the Manchester United job, with the club's board weighing a change of head coach. Deschamps has been out of work since he stepped down from the France national team.

The United board rated Deschamps as a very successful coach, according to reports, with Michael Carrick's position under threat. Any approach would not be welcomed by the Frenchman, who is instead considering which team to coach next.

His record with France includes the 2018 World Cup title and a runner-up finish at the 2022 World Cup. He has not coached a club since 2012, when Marseille were his last employer before he took the France role.

That gap of more than a decade in club management sits alongside his international record as the board assess its options. Deschamps is still evaluating where his next job will be, and United is not among the teams he is pursuing.
